Food Policy Hub, farmers market: working to repeat the experience

Citizens who listen to the story of the foods in front of them directly from their producers. Local companies meeting and exchanging experiences. A municipality, that of Andria, which offers a space to make these meetings possible.

With these images we can tell the second edition of the Farmer's Market, the farmers' market organized by the Food Policy Hub of Andria, which was held yesterday, 15 September, near the "After us" center in the municipal villa.

An event created with the aim of bringing local agricultural producers, administration and communities into dialogue to promote healthy and sustainable food, good for the body and the environment.

«An innovative proposal that surprises citizens, from adults to children – says Giovanna Bruno, mayor of Andria -. An event that animates the municipal villa in an intelligent way, with an experimentation based on green, km0 and the valorisation of our productions. A useful event to bring citizens closer to the values and project of the Food Policy Hub."

To frame it all there were readings, workshops for adults and children, music and theatre, brought together under the name of "Food courts, street songs". Because, as we know, where there is food there is celebration.

«The municipal villa as an open-air stage, as a meeting place in which to be a community but, above all, as a moment to learn – states Daniela Di Bari, councilor for beauty -. Because the Food Policy Hub is above all a cultural journey that allows us to get to know our territory, the producers, the traditions and good habits for living well, without forgetting to nourish both the body and the spirit."

The producers who are becoming more and more numerous are also satisfied: new ones have been added to those of the first edition and many others are those who discovered the initiative yesterday and want to participate in the future.

«We are working to make the farmers' market a point of reference, an experience to be repeated – says Nicola Fattibene, manager of the Food Policy Hub of Andria -. With the next editions we will open up to new producers, who will have the opportunity to make themselves known and promote quality agriculture. These first two events have shown us that producers want to network and collaborate even outside the market. That the Food Hub is the spark of a virtuous process can only make us proud. Our commitment will be aimed at facilitating these processes."

In the aftermath of a very well-attended edition, the Food Policy Hub gets back to work for the next events, meeting the citizens on Saturday 23 September at the Mediterranean garden.
